Simple Iconography For Every Day Functions

This project was done at the request of a client who needed simple lineart illustrations done for their productivity app. All the icons below were designed to suit different functions that one would find in the app, namely Empty Notifications, Empty Channels, Empty Messages...

Empty Inbox Illustrations

‍

These illustrations I created for the "Empty Inbox" or "No New Messages" notification of the application. Once the user has read all of the messages in their inbox, they would be met with the notification with the illustration congratulating them on having gone through all of their messages. Once again, the focus was to get the design to be more focused on the theme of mountains! However I wanted to create a wide variety of options to choose from. Hence some illustrations have more traditional imagery for notifications and messages.

Empty Feed Illustrations

These notification illustrations were created for the Feed feature of the application. Much like what one would see should they have an empty content feed on another app, the design here depicts what the user would see in this scenario. These designs I made sure to create with the theme in mind, utilizing mountains and mountaineering imagery for each illustration.

Empty Chat Illustrations

‍

Not to be confused with the Empty Inbox Illustrations, these chat notifications have specifically been created for empty chats. So chats in which no one has sent a message quite yet.

Due Task Complete Notification

‍

These custom illustrations were put together for notifications centered around tasks. Specifically tasks that the user has completed. Once a user has marked a task as complete, they will be met with one of these notification illustrations depicting the completed task. Again, all of these were designed with the theme in mind throughout the design process.

No Channels Created Notification

‍

The final set of icons created for the user having "No Channels" yet. These channels are used for discussing specific topics that the user pushes to the application. With no channels created, these are some examples of what the user would see in this scenario.

Overall creating all of these illustrations was a fun challenge for me! The client was satisfied with the design choices I had made with regards to the illustrations, providing insightful feedback before settling on the final designs. This was a massive learning opportunity in designing iconography for mobile and pc applications.
